I recommend the plastics that are called “detail” or the bright seasonal plastic colors for the swing lady because they come out appearing they are velvet flocked. :D
The process of making the original 3D models was interesting as was trying to bend the process to my will and then working through it from uploading and getting them printed and making sure the models in question were printed and marked to be assembled with earring hooks.
If they were ordered today in any of the strong and flexible or detail plastics(which I highly recommend) it would take about 10 working days to get them. There is no way I could have made something so delicate, yet strong with my own Longshoremanesque hands.
The Shapeways Company will soon be expanding to the US, but for the time being they are located in the Central Netherlands between Amsterdam and Koln Germany.
Shapeways has been angel funded by Phillips and so when you buy anything from them the shipping is included which includes a UPS tracking number so you can see it while it is on its way…and with the new addition of the earring hardware for my little plastic beauties it makes these items amazingly inexpensive.

I have plans for several new items to be modeled and printed in the coming months.
After middling success printing a metal frankenstein-moai pendant, i felt like it was time to spend a few days getting the process down for some more fun and stimulation wearable art. I designed this earring set and set them off to print in various materials. If they make it thru the process and are sturdy and pretty enough I will offer them for sale and continue making more.
These are 3.2 cm tall, not including the french wires or jump rings.
Panel Bracelet Prototypes. Shown Are White, Aqua and Garnet Black with Swarovski Cut Crystal Accents. I sculpted the initial panel and have made enough headway to go into production. The first series will be produced in the two weeks in AQUA, WHITE, CORAL, BLACK and RED.
